"Canon Divergence" on its own is vague, but when paired up with a requested character or ship, it's enough for me as a writer. With the other two genre tags to meet the minimum three, it's plenty.
In your hypothetical placeholder scenario, all I'd need to do is review canon until I hit a point where I go, "ok, what if!" And then I write the fic.
Having "Canon Divergence" as an option for the people who find it useful wouldn't force it upon the people who don't find it useful.
