Crossover Fandom

Hello, all! We seem to have run into some odd behavior with the Crossover Fandom nominations, where anything submitted to that fandom will be auto-rejected. I have some idea how this happened, but there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. I'll report this issue to AO3, but in order to keep things moving, please submit your crossover nominations to the following fandom instead:

Nominations for this new fandom should follow the same guidelines as usual:

• "Character A (Fandom)/Character B (Fandom)" - this means that you are nominating Character A/Character B shipfic, and that it is a crossover. Please be specific about fandoms, especially if there are a lot of adaptations featuring Character A and/or Character B.
• "Character A (Fandom) & Character B (Fandom)" this means you are nominating Character A and Character B in a gen configuration, and that it is a crossover. Please be specific about fandoms, especially if there are a lot of adaptations featuring Character A and/or Character B.

For Daomu Biji fandom, if a character appears across the tv shows and books, and I would like both book aspects but the character only appears in the present time in tv shows, how should I list that?

Currently the dramas under this overarching fandom are listed by individual drama title, (the ones with this character are: 沙海 | Tomb of the Sea (TV), 终极笔记 | Ultimate Note (TV), Old Nine Gates (TV))

And the novel is listed as: 盗墓笔记 - 南派三叔 | The Grave Robbers' Chronicles - Xu Lei

And I want to request/offer a meeting of this character, another drama character and three others with aspects from both show and book, and a book only (so far) character.

Hmm, this is a bit tricky! In this situation, if you're hoping for a writer or recipient who's familiar with both book and TV canon, I'd recommend nominating under Crossover Fandom Relationships for the relationships incorporating drama and book-only characters. Does that work for your exact situation?

I think that works, but what do I do if the characters are across two different dramas and the books? Can I do a three-way crossover?

(Most people who have seen the tv drama Old Nine Gates|Mystic Nine are familiar with the book aspects of the one character (aka from the book Mystic Nine), and another book-only character is across many of the books!)

It isn't letting me tag all the fandoms the characters are in within the same line (under the maximum character/letter count! Should I only put in one of fandoms that the character is in? But how do I include both novel-only aspects (that an argument could be made are still there in the dramas, but I want that explicitly) and drama only aspects (namely that the character is still there in present day)

Yes, i would prefer Zhang Rishan in present day too, which is Ultimate Note tv show and Sha Hai tv show, but lacking space for that, DMBJ books or DMBJ as a general fandom should work when combined with /Liang Wan (Sha Hai tv show), as they are both in the Sha Hai tv show!

Zhang Qishan|Foye should across be across fandom but most important book and his mentions in Sha Hai tv show.

Hi! I'm sorry, I'm having a little trouble interpreting this, and could also use some help with your actual nominations now that I see them.

The Crossover Fandom Relationships fandom is really intended for nominating multiple individual characters from different fandoms, not for picking and choosing aspects of each character that you want from various adaptations, if that makes sense! If the latter is what you're going for, I'd suggest choosing one version for each character in the crossover fandom (or nominating them all as a group in a single fandom), and using optional details to give some context on what you like about a specific version of the character, keeping in mind that optional details are generally optional for your writer as well.

Could you help me identify a single fandom/version for each character in your crossover nominations?

I'm also a little confused by Character: Zhang Rishan (DMBJ books and Old Nine Gates and Sha Hai and Ultimate Note) - is that a single character nominated across all the adaptations?

Yes, Zhang Rishan across the adaptations - unfortunately, each of the adaptations corresponds to basically one of the books, which occur chronologically. (So it would be the same as if each books of Game of Thrones had its own tv series.) And most of the characters are across multiple shows, but they exist in different adaptations/places in the timeline, or in the novels but different times. The thing I want is how Zhang Rishan and this character he dates in one of the tv adaptations interact with other novel characters present day. But Zhang Rishan only exist in present day in the tv series (in the books he exists only in the Old Nine Gates|Mystic Nine novel, but in that book he has special bug-proof longlived blood that is very relevant to the other characters I want him to interact with and more generally to the DMBJ plot). And other characters exist only in the novels. I could leave it as just novel!Zhang Rishan, but he doesn't exist in the novels past the Old Nine Gates|Mystic Nine book! So there is no way to nominate this dramaverse ship interacting with these novelverse characters, with only one tv show.

The novels already have this covered as they are all politely under a single fandom name and not under each chronologically set drama name. But dramaverse, unfortunately, is not a single tag!

That was why I originally asked how I should put it in!

Let me see if I can pick an individual adaptation and then specify in the optional details that I also want him as he was in the Sha Hai tv show including in the canon ship from that.

Or should I just "DMBJ - all media types" which was what I put for Candy Hearts Exchange?

Sorry, I didn't realize quite how complicated this was!

If it's easiest to do it as All Media Types, I'm fine with that in this case, if you're comfortable with the possibility of a writer or recipient only being familiar with parts of the canon. I usually prefer not to do AMT in cases where multiple sub-types are also nominated, but I don't believe that's the case for these fandoms.

I think I have most of those sorted under Daomu Biji - All Media Types now! (Just to be clear, the concern is mostly with the crossover nominations that specified multiple canons for a single character in the relationship--crossovers are generally intended for Character A (Fandom #1)/Character B (Fandom #2)-type nominations.)

Can you please confirm whether Zhang Xueliang (Shao Shuai | Young Marshal - historical figure) & Zhang Qishan (Daomu Biji) is a crossover between DMBJ and historical RPF, or whether Zhang Xueliang is in DMBJ AMT and that should also go in AMT?
