Thanks to all who have replied to nominations queries or alerted me to errors in the tagset! I'm hoping to resolve a few more items before signups open later today--the more we can fix now, the easier signups will be. Please let me know if you see any other problems.

I will be clearing nominations at the start of signups, then reopening them to allow everyone to nominate an additional 3 fandoms with 4 characters or relationships during signups. I'll make a note of any unapproved nominations with unresolved queries at that time and will add the tags myself once the nominators reply to those queries.

Speaking of which!

Two new items:

Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Original Series (Movies): Apologies, I approved without noticing this potential duplicate! Are these distinct fandoms? My understanding is the movies are in continuity with the show and they are often combined, but if it makes sense to leave them separate, I'm happy to do so.
Warhammer 40.000 and Warhammer 40k (Novels) - Various Authors: if you nominated one of these fandoms, please check the tagset to confirm your chosen tags are in the correct fandom. There were some oddities with disambiguation and wandering relationships, and I think I've resolved them correctly, but please let me know if they're wrong.

Nominations are open over here. They will close on May 1st for cleanup, but this year I am planning to re-open the tagset for nominations during signups as well.

There are no restrictions on what can be nominated in terms of fandom size, type, and so forth, and we also allow crossovers and original fandoms to be nominated. Please nominate crossover relationships into the Crossover Fandom tag, and original characters and relationships into the Original Work tag.

In terms of how to nominate characters versus relationships, please follow the format below:

The tagset will close in a little over 12 hours! Here's a countdown.

It may stay open a little longer at my discretion, and I'll continue to sort out issues and questions after it's closed.

I'm sorry it's taking longer than usual for approvals--I'm running solo this year as CBMod takes a well-earned break, and I've also been encountering frequent errors with the nominations page. These errors have meant some manual cleanup. Please check your nominations and let me know if you see any problems, particularly tags winding up in the wrong fandom, as I had to do some of those associations myself.

Hello, all! We seem to have run into some odd behavior with the Crossover Fandom nominations, where anything submitted to that fandom will be auto-rejected. I have some idea how this happened, but there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. I'll report this issue to AO3, but in order to keep things moving, please submit your crossover nominations to the following fandom instead:

We have received nominations for Any Fandom I've Requested Before and Any Fandom I've Requested for F5K Before. Our concern with these fandoms is that including them in the regular tagset and allowing them for offers risks a situation where an author could match on someone whose fandoms they don’t know or aren’t willing to write.

As a result, we plan not to approve these fandoms before signups begin. Supernatural (TV 2005), Group: Sam Winchester & Creator's Choice of Villain - Are you specifically looking for a canonical villain? If so, may we add "Canonical" to the tag?

Crossover Fandom, Group: Nebula (MCU)/Nebula (MCU) - Is this a MCU nomination or a crossover between MCU Nebula and another version?

Naruto, Fandom should be "Dreaming of Sunshine - Silver Queen (Fanfic DFE)" but AO3 changed it - Please comment with a link to your nominations page. There are a lot of other nominations for Naruto, and we don't know which are yours and are supposed to be for DoS.

The Walking Dead & Related Fandoms, Group: Felix Carlucci/Will Campbell, Group: Rick Grimes/Daryl Dixon - We also have nominations for The Walking Dead (TV). Should these be combined? If not, can we separate this nomination into World Beyond and Walking Dead?

16th Century CE RPF, Historical RPF - The characters nominated in these two fandoms have no overlap, but we'd like to avoid having both century-specific and general historical RPF fandoms in the tagset, and the general historical one spans a few centuries. Are there any objections to combining these? We're looking at a pretty small number of tags (7 total).

Star Trek - Various Authors, Group: Alexander Rozhenko/Giancarlo Wu, Group: Elim Garak/Kelas Parmak - We already have Pawns and Symbols in the tagset. What's the best way to handle that as well as these novel-related nominations?

Transformers - All Media Types - Please nominate a specific media type.

Horizon: Zero Dawn (Video Game), Group: Aloy & Beta, Group: Aloy & Kotallo, Zo (Horizon: Zero Dawn) - Should these be nominated under Zero Dawn or Forbidden West?

We do not have any restrictions on what can be nominated in terms of fandom size, type, and so forth, and we also allow crossovers and original fandoms to be nominated. Please nominate crossover relationships into the Crossover Fandom tag, and original characters and relationships into the Original Work tag.

We're reviewing tags as they come in, and we have a few clarifications and questions. In addition to what we've listed below, please continue to let us know if you see tags that are duplicates, misspelled, or otherwise incorrect.

First, we've made some decisions on recent installments in larger franchises.

Please nominate the Synder Cut of Justice League as follows:

Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)

Please nominate characters from Wandavision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier under the Marvel Cinematic Universe tag, as their lead characters and plot flow directly from the MCU.

1. 17th Century CE RPF - Group: Isabella of Parma/Maria Christina Duchess of Teschen

Both these characters appear to have lived exclusively in the 18th Century. Can we confirm as 18th Century CE RPF?

2. We've received questions about how to nominate the Westeros novels/novellas that aren't part of the strict Song of Ice and Fire series. Would it make sense to approve these as a single tag such as Westeros Books (non-Song of Ice and Fire) - George R. R. Martin? (more graceful wording suggestions appreciated!)

3. We've received mixed responses to queries about how/if to divide Star Wars Legends, though it sounds as though participants prefer Knights of the Old Republic at least to be its own fandom. Please add any final comments on this post.

4. We have a nomination for The Mummy (1999). Does it make sense to approve this as The Mummy Series?

Nominations are closed, and the tagset is almost complete! We have a few lingering questions at the bottom of this post. When these are answered, signups can begin. If we don't have them answered by 11:59 PM EDT on Saturday the 28th, we'll reject or adjust those tags as appropriate. Here is a countdown.

We also have some questions. If you're answering a question or need us to adjust anything in the tagset, please include a link to your nominations page in your comment.

We'll need answers to these before nominations open on 28 March, and if we haven't heard back at that time, we'll adjust or reject the nominations as appropriate. Please make sure you're following the guidelines given here, and have a look at the tagset before you submit new fandoms to see if they've already been approved under a slightly different name.
