Some ideas: how about an exploration of the early days of Kellis-Amberlee, like a scientist’s detailed account of amplification in humans or large animals? (No gore is too gory!) Background on Georgia and Shaun’s relationship development as they grew up? A mission fic taking them into the lost zones to retrieve something/someone? An external POV series of blog posts commenting on Georgia and Shaun’s antics, in the style of Feedback? Series-Specific Likes and Prompts: This film strikes the perfect balance between horror and humour. I love Grace’s vulnerability and strength, her snarkiness and inconsistently successful attempts to manipulate how others view her. I want to know more about her, whether pre-canon, in-canon or post-canon. Some prompt ideas, if you want them: if you’re into genre shift or AUs, what if—just to make Grace’s day even worse—the Le Domas mansion was haunted? Or how about a canon-divergence fic where she’s infiltrating the Le Domas family, or an Epic of Gilgamesh fusion where she takes on the role of Enki battling the dragon Kur? Worldbuilding-wise, fleshing out the story of Le Bail could be fun. And, of course, the question everyone’s been asking: why are there goats? (I love them. Feel free to make them the entire premise of the fic, with whatever level of crackfic potential you see fit to include.)
I also love that Grace and Daniel simultaneously bring out the best in each other while under extreme pressure and yet still give off the vibe of a trainwreck waiting to happen. If you want to write 5K words of them having weird sex? I’m here for it :). Or if you want to go pre-canon and build up their relationship, feel free to go with straight-up infidelity, writing Alex out of existence, or anything in between. Canon divergence where Grace meets Emilie first, goes on a cocaine-fuelled bender with her and wakes up in bed with Daniel? Series-Specific Likes and Prompts: I’m a total sucker for the combination of horror/thriller, science and snarky women, so this series really hooked me. Anything that pits humans against the elements is right up my alley. For Navarro as a solo character, where does she go after the show? Do the supernatural guiding forces follow her or does their absence compel her to return? What happens next at Tsalal?
Danvers and Navarro’s chemistry was off the charts; reluctant allies or not, they act as complementary forces and get things done in a way they couldn’t achieve individually. What if Navarro got assigned to help Danvers settle in when she first moved to Ennis? What if they were trapped in another ice cave? What if Danvers develops insomnia when the sun returns and her crankiness builds alongside the sexual tension, culminating in a frenemies with benefits situation?
