We have just over a week left for signups, which will close at 23:59 EDT on Saturday, 9 April. What time is that for me?
Also, since the last round of the exchange, there's been an update to AO3 to allow people to decide whether they want to receive treats. You can change the new setting for your account as follows:
Open your AO3 dashboard > Go to "Preferences" > Go to the "Collections, Challenges and Gifts" section > View "Allow anyone to gift me works."
If the checkbox next to this setting is checked, it means people can give you treats in this exchange (and outside it). If the checkbox is not checked, it means you can only receive gifts from people who are assigned to you in an exchange. Please make sure this setting is checked or unchecked according to your preferences!
As a creator, there is no way to see at a glance if someone you want to treat has this setting on or off, so we have a few recommendations.
1) In the optional details of your signup on AO3, please consider adding a statement like "I am open to treats" or "I don't allow treats" for all of your requested fandoms. We don't require this, but it may save everyone some time!
2) If you are thinking of writing a treat for someone, we strongly recommend you make certain they allow treats before you start! If there's no statement either way in that person's signup, you can always contact us by email, and we'll happily reach out to them while keeping you anonymous. (Alternatively, you can attempt to post a draft work with them as the recipient, and AO3 will give you an error message if they don't allow gifts. If you do this, please be very careful to post it as a draft and to put it in the Fandom5K 2022 collection to make sure they don't get a junk gift by mistake.)
To view people's signups, check out the request summary on AO3, or the easier-to-navigate app.
