Signups are closed! I've run the matching algorithm and have contacted one person who can't currently be matched. Please check your email in case I've reached out to you.

Depending on when I hear back, assignments should be sent in about 24-48 hours.

Just over 24 hours until signups close! Here is a countdown.

If you'd like to see our current list of signups, check these links:
If you want to help speed up the matching process, you can check the existing requests and see if you can match to any of them, but that's optional. After signups are closed, I'll run the matching algorithm and contact anyone who has no possible recipient.

I'll also check to make sure everyone has at least three unique fandoms in their requests and four unique fandoms in their offers.

Please get in touch if you have any questions!

I'll also continue to approve late nominated tags, but please try to submit those as soon as possible to give yourself and others time to include them in signups, or in case I have any questions for you.

Signups will close in 4 days! Here is a countdown.

Reminder that the tagset has reopened for a limited number of nominations. If you notice any issues in the current tagset, please let me know.

Note for recently-nominated tages: if Din Djarin/Luke Skywalker is yours, please nominate under Crossover Fandom or one of the shows where both characters have appeared. I won't approve Din Djarin under the OT, as the character didn't appear in those movies.

Signups are open here! Go forth and request fanworks! They will close on 11 May.

As you do, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the rules and the FAQ. Please let us know if they need any clarification. You can comment here or shoot us an email if you have any questions.

In the meantime, there's still some tagset cleanup in progress--please double-check all your tags, and see if I have questions about your nominations here.

I have cleared all existing nominations and reopened the tagset. You may nominate an additional 3 fandoms with 4 relationships for each fandom, but I'd ask that you please only do so for tags that you are planning to offer or request.

Please note that this year I am allowing you to repeat fandoms in multiple requests and offers, but you must still have at least 3 unique fandoms in your requests and 4 unique offers. AO3 doesn't support those exact requirements, so it's up to you to make sure you have enough unique fandoms. I'll be checking regularly and getting in touch with anyone who needs to add fandoms, but at the point that signups close, you'll have a limited time to fix the problem, so please make sure you only submit your signup once it meets the minimum!

We have about a day and a half until signups close! Here is a countdown.

If you'd like to see our current list of signups, check these links:

By request, we're adding this post so participants can link their letters. This is completely optional, but welcome. Please do continue to link your letter in the optional details, ideally as the first line in each fandom.

If you want to add your letter to this post, please include the following:

AO3 Name
Fandoms
Letter URL

Signups are open for another week! We're excited to see so many coming through.

We've heard back from AO3 support, and unfortunately there's no good way for either us or them to update the settings for letter links. Please continue to link to your letters in each optional details section.

For consistency and ease of finding the links, if you are including a letter, we'd ask that you include it at the top of the optional details in the following format:

Letter: <link>

After signups close, mods have the ability to edit requests, so we will go through and make sure all signups match this format.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope this workaround will fill the gap this year. Please feel free to get in touch if we can help with your letter links.

Signups are open, but we've made a mistake! We forgot to include the Letter URL in the signups form.

We've reached out to AO3 support to resolve this, as they lock down most challenge settings once participants have started to sign up. In the meantime, signups are still open--if there is no quick solution for this, you can include your letter URLs in the text of your prompts.

Apologies for the inconvenience!

Please note that we unfortunately forgot to include the letter URL in our signup form, so we are asking that everyone include their letter at the top of the optional details for each fandom in the following format:

Letter: <link>

We will update signups after they close to make sure that any letter links are at the top of the optional details, just for consistency.

There's a little over a day left to sign up! Signups close on 09 April at 11:59 PM, EDT. Here is a countdown.

You can help us keep things running smoothly in a few ways:

1) Make sure you can match to at least one recipient. (More is always great!) We can't send out assignments until everyone has a recipient. If you don't have the chance to check, or if requests change before signups close, don't worry--we'll contact you at that point, and you'll have 48 hours to reply.

To see if you're matchable right now, you can see all the requests in detail here, or you can view a summary of the offered and requested fandoms. (Note that you need to be logged into AO3 to do this.) You can also check the app, but be aware it may not have the most recent updates unless someone has scraped it recently.

2) Make sure your signup is complete, that you have selected the tags you meant to select, and that any DNWs are clearly indicated in the details section of your requests.

3) If you wrote a letter, make sure the link is in your signup and that it's correct. Make sure your letter is accessible to someone who doesn't have an account on whatever platform you used to host it. Many people are still working on their letters and may have them set as private for right now, which is fine, but keep in mind assignments will go out no later than 12 April.

4) Please consider adding a note to each of your requests to indicate whether you have treats turned on or off. Here's more detail about this new AO3 setting.

We have just over a week left for signups, which will close at 23:59 EDT on Saturday, 9 April. What time is that for me?

Also, since the last round of the exchange, there's been an update to AO3 to allow people to decide whether they want to receive treats. You can change the new setting for your account as follows:

Open your AO3 dashboard > Go to "Preferences" > Go to the "Collections, Challenges and Gifts" section > View "Allow anyone to gift me works."

If the checkbox next to this setting is checked, it means people can give you treats in this exchange (and outside it). If the checkbox is not checked, it means you can only receive gifts from people who are assigned to you in an exchange. Please make sure this setting is checked or unchecked according to your preferences!

As a creator, there is no way to see at a glance if someone you want to treat has this setting on or off, so we have a few recommendations.

1) In the optional details of your signup on AO3, please consider adding a statement like "I am open to treats" or "I don't allow treats" for all of your requested fandoms. We don't require this, but it may save everyone some time!

2) If you are thinking of writing a treat for someone, we strongly recommend you make certain they allow treats before you start! If there's no statement either way in that person's signup, you can always contact us by email, and we'll happily reach out to them while keeping you anonymous. (Alternatively, you can attempt to post a draft work with them as the recipient, and AO3 will give you an error message if they don't allow gifts. If you do this, please be very careful to post it as a draft and to put it in the Fandom5K 2022 collection to make sure they don't get a junk gift by mistake.)

To view people's signups, check out the request summary on AO3, or the easier-to-navigate app.

. This year, we have 3,123 characters and relationships in 627 different fandoms.

To help you navigate, keep in mind that Marvel live-action nominations are under the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., or The Defenders (Marvel TV), with groups combining them in Crossover Fandom. DC fandoms may be under the DC Extended Universe (films) or DC's Arrowverse (TV), with groups combining the two under Crossover Fandom.

For those interested in Original Works and Crossover Fandom tags, I've created a filterable spreadsheet for each that might help with finding tags you can offer or request.

Please let me know if there are errors in the spreadsheet. There was a lot of copy/paste, and some of the tags are ambiguous.

We've had a few questions come up during signups and would like to clarify the use of the Character field in your requests and offers.

The tags selected there, whether a solo character tag or a Group: relationship tag, are used in AO3's matching process to match a recipient with a writer. Your writer is required to feature one of your requested tags as the focus of the story they write for you.

The available tags come from this tag set, which was created from all of your nominations over the last couple of weeks.

Please keep this in mind when choosing your requests and offers. If, for example, your author signs up using the Group: A/B tag, they are signing up to write A/B and will expect to see a request about A/B. Don't disappoint them by saying you're really just interested in A, or A & B, or A/C!

Your optional details may indicate other secondary characters or relationships that could be added to an A/B story, but by using the A/B tag, you are asking primarily for A/B, and your request should focus on that.

When signing up, take some time to review our Rules and our FAQ (which describes how the tag set, requests, and offers work).

Please don't hesitate to reach out either here or via email if you have questions.
