We've had a few questions come up during signups and would like to clarify the use of the Character field in your requests and offers.

The tags selected there, whether a solo character tag or a Group: relationship tag, are used in AO3's matching process to match a recipient with a writer. Your writer is required to feature one of your requested tags as the focus of the story they write for you.

The available tags come from this tag set, which was created from all of your nominations over the last couple of weeks.

Please keep this in mind when choosing your requests and offers. If, for example, your author signs up using the Group: A/B tag, they are signing up to write A/B and will expect to see a request about A/B. Don't disappoint them by saying you're really just interested in A, or A & B, or A/C!

Your optional details may indicate other secondary characters or relationships that could be added to an A/B story, but by using the A/B tag, you are asking primarily for A/B, and your request should focus on that.

When signing up, take some time to review our Rules and our FAQ (which describes how the tag set, requests, and offers work).

Please don't hesitate to reach out either here or via email if you have questions.

I have some questions.
a) there are canonical tags A/B and A&C. Would it be ok to write A/B/C as one of the prompt ideas?
b) one fandom has no ships, but characters A, B, C, D as options to choose. Would it be ok to write that my ships are A/B, C/D or D/E?
