2018 Schedule & Make-Up Assignments

Hello, everyone--2018 has barely begun, but we're already looking forward to the next round of Fandom 5K!

 

Based on feedback we received last year, we're moving the exchange about a month later to avoid major holidays and university schedules. Here is our proposed timeline:

 

Nominations: 14-23 March

Signups: 24 March-7 April

Assignments out by: 10 April

Default deadline: 4 May

Mandatory check-in: 5-12 May

Stories due: 2 June

Stories revealed: 16 June

Authors revealed: 23 June

 

If you defaulted after the deadline last year--that is, if you did not participate in the mandatory check-in or defaulted after the check-in started--you must complete your original assignment before signups open. The 2017 collection will remain open until 23 March for makeup assignments.

Have you come to a decision at this stage about whether art would be allowed this round (in the form of comics or otherwise)? I wouldn't be able to offer at all, but would be v. interested in requesting.

Thanks for letting us know! We're very interested in allowing art but, as mentioned below, are going to give it one more year with fic only, and then we'll see for 2019.

We have made a decision for this round! Both of us would love to include art in some form, but we want to give it one more year first. That will give us a better sense of the number of participants to expect, and then we can assess how art requests are likely to affect matchability. It's definitely a possibility for 2019.
